Description:
The tree native to Madagascar. This tall, heavy fan palm is a striking and impressive plant. The large, very heavy blue-green leaves, well displayed and up to 3m across, are usually broader than long. The divide into segments from the leaf base and are carried on blue-green stalks streaked with a white bloom. The trunk is stout and attains a height of about 20m. This palm is fast-growing and self-cleaning. It carries its flowers amongst the leaves and the brown, plum-like fruit are 4cm long.
